The countdown for the 2020 Stockton Sentinel New Year’s Baby took a little longer than usual, but the wait was so worth it when new parents Dayna and Dustin Kriley welcomed their son, Ezra Michael Kriley, into the world on Friday, February 21st. Ezra was born on 5:34 p.m. at the Hays Medical Center. The little man weighed in at 8 pounds and five ounces, was 19 1/2 inches long, and has blonde hair and blue eyes like his mommy and daddy.

Dayna and Dustin chose the unique name Ezra for their son because it was a little different, but not real far out. Both of their fathers are named Michael, therefore, he was given the middle name of Michael. Among those ready to spoil him are Ezra’s grandparents, Cindy and Michael Kriley of Stockton, and Mike and Tammy Pachta of Riley.

Now that the couple have brought Ezra home, he is starting to figure out his day and night time routines with his parents laughing as they state they are slowly catching up on their sleep.

Ezra’s furry siblings, Reese and Ike, still aren’t quite sure what they think of the little man, but they are finding their way as well. The two said Reese came in one time and watched them as they gave Ezra a bath. Now Reese lays close by Ezra’s bed when he is sleeping.

Dayna is a child nutrition consultant for Kansas State Department of Education, and Dustin is the soil conservation technician at NRSC in Stockton.

Even though it was almost the end of February, after Ezra made his appearance a number of family and friends told the couple that they needed to contact the Stockton Sentinel since they did not think there had been the announcement of the newspaper’s 2020 New Year’s Baby. When Dustin called the Sentinel to ask, he was told Ezra was indeed the New Year’s Baby, and to come in to claim the wonderful prizes donated by local businesses.

The contest was made possible by these area merchants and business people: Farmerr National Bank, Stockton Dental Center/Dr.Cynthia Peticolas, Stockton Housing Authority, Pizza Hut, Heartland Building Center, Solutions North Bank, Farmers Union Mercantile, Stockton Pharmacy, J-Mart, Nova Theatre, Twig & Vine, Stockton Sentinel, Goose & Frog Tavern, 183 Lanes, Stockton Recreation Commission & Fitness Center, and RGN Co., Inc. Oilfield Services.
