RENO COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating after sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in Nickerson on April 11th to check on the welfare of animals. Deputies found the home had several cats, dogs, and other animals inside, according to a media release from the Hutchinson Animal Shelter.

KANSAS CITY, MO.—Firefighters were called on Monday, April 8th, after people spotted a mountain goat that had escaped from its owner and somehow got stuck under a Kansas City bridge. The KC Pet Project Animal Services team worked with the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department to try and get him off the bridge.

ELLIS COUNTY—Just after noon on Tuesday, April 2nd, emergency personnel were dispatched to the Roadway Inn, Room #206, 3403 Vine Street in Hays, for a child not breathing, according to a media release. Hays police officers arrived after EMS and observed EMS staff performing CPR on a five-month-old infant.

SALINE COUNTY—According to Salina Police Captain James Feldman, officers and local emergency services responded to a Toyota passenger vehicle fully engulfed in flames after it struck a support pillar under Interstate 135 at West Cloud Street and the Centennial Road Intersection just after 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24th.

ELLIS—The Greyhound bus stop in Ellis has closed, with the potential of other businesses shutting down. SJ Singh, the owner of the A&W and Ellis Days Inn, managed the bus stop on Second Street and said the City of Ellis has stopped him from operating it.

MIAMI COUNTY—On February 27th, deputies, along with Miami County EMS and Fire District #1 of Johnson County, responded to a medical call on the ramp of 169 Highway and 255th Street, according to a social media report from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. When deputies arrived, they were met with a father who had just delivered his baby inthe front seat of their vehicle.

HAYS—Thomas More Prep-Marian Senior Emma Basgall of Hays was selected to dance at the Super Bowl halftime show. Basgall, 18, had sent in a video audition in January and, after a series of callbacks, was selected to be one of the dancers in the star-studded halftime show that featured Usher.
