Former Stockton resident, Thomas D. Cyre, age 65, entered into rest on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Mount Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, Kan.

He was born November 10, 1955 in Newton, Kan., to Bernard and Loretta (Dallen) Cyre.

He was a 1973 graduate of Clay Center High School. Thomas went on to receive his Associate's Degree from Cloud County Community College and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology at Fort Hays State University, Hays.

On August 20, 1976, he married Sandra Estes at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center.

Thomas worked for the federal government as a geologist.

He participated in many sports including basketball, wrestling, tennis, track, cross country, and he excelled at table tennis, loved riding motorcycles and being outdoors—especially at Wilson Lake. He was an avid sports fan.

He is survived by his wife Sandra, Concordia; a son, Vaughan, Concordia; his mother, Loretta Cyre, Clay Center; five brothers, Dan Cyre, Jamestown, Pat Cyre (Bobbie), Steven Cyre (Kathy), Dennis Cyre, all of Clay Center and Mark Cyre (Kathy), Sedgwick; two sisters: Judy Prim, Jamestown and Karen Kleinow (Todd), Yorba Linda, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. 

Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Bernard; a brother, Brian Lee Cyre; and sister-in-law, Sheri Cyre.

There will be no visitation.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., December 31, 2020, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Clay Center, with Fr. Don Zimmerman officiating. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, family has asked family and friends attending the mass to please where a mask. Burial of cremains will take place later in the spring at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in St. Joseph, Kan.
