TOPEKA—A car was pulled out of a pond on Monday, September 10th, after it was involved in a two-vehicle crash at a west Topeka Intersection at SW 6th and Gage. Police said a black Chevrolet Malibu and a red Dodge pickup truck collided in the intersection.

SALINE COUNTY—A Kansas teen, seventeen-year-old Cadence Halfhill of Ellsworth, was injured in a single-vehicle accident on Sunday, September 3rd, on North Brookville Road in Saline County. According to Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan, Halfhill was traveling southbound in the 2800 Block of North Brookville Road when her 1997 Ford Explorer tire dropped off the edge of the roadway, causing her to swerve.

GREAT BEND—The Barton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accident that left a man with serious injuries. The sheriff’s office said around 11:30 p.m.

PRATT—Over the past several years, staff with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks have fielded an ever-increasing amount of public concerns regarding using trail or game cameras on public lands. Concerns cited by the public commonly included the issues of theft, and privacy concerns.

RAWLINS COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating alleged cattle theft in northwest Kansas. According to a media release from the sheriff's office, a member of the Kansas Livestock Association reported that 17 head of 200-350 pound calves were stolen in mid-July ten miles northeast of Atwood.

BELOIT—In June, students from NCK Tech Beloit’s Welding program took home the silver medal at the National Skills USA Welding Fabrication Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. To qualify for the national contest, students must take first place at their respective state competition held in the spring.

TOPEKA—Governor Laura Kelly has announced that Kansas has been chosen to participate in the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) Policy Academy to advance Youth Apprenticeship. Through this initiative, Kansas will devise a strategy to broaden apprenticeship opportunities for young people aged 16 and over.

TOPEKA—Governor Laura Kelly announced that on Monday, August 14th, American icon Dolly Parton would visit Kansas to celebrate the statewide success of her Imagination Library program at a closed event hosted by the Imagination Library of Kansas. Every child in Kansas from birth to age five can receive free monthly books from Dolly’s Imagination Library.

RUSSELL—A brand new historic park, splash pad, and visitors center opened on July 8th, and by July 14th, three different instances of vandalism had already occurred. There was some damage in the restroom facilities, so they have been closed off until repairs can be made.

COFFEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating the random killing of a cow in a Kansas pasture. On July 3rd, the Coffey County Kansas Sheriff learned about a cow that had been killed in the pasture.
