Irene Gray

Graveside Services for Irene Gray, age 89, of O’Neill, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020, at the Highland Cemetery, rural Lynch, NE. Irene passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Atkinson, NE. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of O’Neill, NE.  Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin’s Mortuary of O’Neill.

Irene J. Sammons was born on May 8, 1931 to Harry and Alta (Burton) Sammons in rural Rooks County, KS. She married Earl Cabbage on September 1, 1949 and they lived in Stockton, KS.  Irene worked at Phelps Drug Store, Stockton Nursing Home, and Webster’s Grocery Store.  On October 1, 1979, she married Richard Gray and they lived in O’Neill, NE. Irene was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Patrick Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary. 

Irene is survived by her children: Charlotte Cabbage Delaney of Phillipsburg and LeRoy (Geri) Cabbage of Garden City; three grandchildren: Mary (Mike) Faris, Jenny (Dave) Reichard, and Wes (Ashley) Delaney; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Elmer Sammons of Nebraska City, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Earl Cabbage; son-in-law, John Delaney; and one great-grandchild, Josh Fielder.
