Melissa “Missy” Ann Finnesy passed away on October 3, 2020, at the Redbud Village in Plainville at the age of 60.

She was born on September 7, 1960 in Plainville to Donald Joseph and Eva Marie (Mayhew) Finnesy.

Missy grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School in 1980. She worked in housekeeping at Redbud Village for many years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was inducted into the Special Olympics Hall of Fame in 1986. Although Missy was disabled, she was always “with it” and participated in many things from basketball and cheerleading, to dancing. Always with an ear-to-ear smile, she knew no stranger. She loved all her “boyfriends”—even though they were married! She loved birthdays and loved receiving cards. Just as much though, she loved sending cards and never forgot anyone’s birthday.

Left to survive Missy are her brothers, D.J. Finnesy of Plainville and Doug Finnesy of Boise, Idaho; a sister Janice Cole of Wichita; and nieces and nephews, Loni Foster of Topeka, Blair Finnesy of Leonardville, Jordan Schippers of Hoxie, Stevie Finnesy of Plainivlle, Meghan Bacon (Nick) of Emporia, Tiffany Peterson (Darin) of Derby, Amy Brown of Plainville, Tammy Werner of Plainville, Melanie Qualman of Idaho, Jamie Prinzing of Ore., Cortney Dale of Hays, and Ashley Zeller of Topeka.

Missy was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Eva Finnesy; and brother, Steve Finnesy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil and Rosary at 5:30 p.m. at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Plainville.

Memorials are suggested to Solomon Valley Larks and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd, Plainville, KS 67663.
