Dear Editor:

A few weeks ago a friend of mine, Virgi Laska, in her “This ‘n That” corner in the Sentinel, said: “I stand for the flag and the National Anthem, and I kneel only for God.” Well, I agree with Virgi, and I hold high honor for her.

When I recite the Pledge of Allegiance, I include the words “One nation, under God” in there! I stand for the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, Taps, and the flag of the United States of America, and I kneel only for the Creator, who is God! My hat’s off to you, Virgi!

Also, a few weeks ago I went through several days where everything I touched turned to butter. I mean, I could not get anything to go right and I turned into a grouch. I put forth a lot of effort to not be that way, but it was disgusting. Then another good friend of mine, Nancy Becker, in her “Nancy’s Notes” section of the Sentinel, came through for me in her “I’m so old” article. As I read that article, I got to laughing so hard my gizzard hurt. After reading that article, I felt better than I had for a couple weeks! Way to go, Nancy! The timing could not have been better!

The United States could take a few lessons from Stockton and Rooks County Election Board on how to vote at the polls. Our people have intelligence and common sense! They had all the bases covered and organized very well. It was safe, clean and very efficient for a smooth voting experience on August 3rd. My compliments to all who were involved and to all the volunteers. We even got to keep a nice ink pen. There is no need at all for “voting by mail” and clogging up the mail flow at a time when many of us begin mailing out Christmas cards and packages early to avoid the holiday mail crunch. Has Congress any brains or common sense at all? Good grief!

Here is wishing Corky Hagan a speedy recovery from his recent mishap.

Thanks to each of you at the Stockton Sentinel. Keep up the good work, and keep all that information and entertainment coming! It’s all most appreciated!

God bless! Dale Anderson, Stockton
