THIS AND THAT

* Hey, how many of you watched Usher perform during the TV special “Let’s Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute to Prince.” He was smooth as silk and he sang my favorite Prince song! Only one that topped Usher that night was Prince himself when they aired parts of his performances during the tribute. One of those was his Super Bowl halftime show during the Colts/Bears football game in 2007. My Peyton Manning and Indianapolis took care of business that day.

* Roses are red, April was grey, I hope we can leave our houses in May.

* With the increase of toilet paper sales during these past few months, there have been many recyclable toilet paper roll ideas online. The one I am trying out is making the rolls into biodegradable seed planters. What you do is cut the roll in half. Then make four cuts in the roll about a third of the way up. Fold the cut area on the bottom like you would close a box. Then fill the newly-formed toilet paper seed pots with potting soil. The next step is to plant a few flower or vegetable seeds in each one, cover lightly with a little more soil and water them periodically to keep everything moist so the seeds can germinate. Once the seeds have sprouted, you can plant the entire seed pot in your garden! I tried this and planted some flower seeds about a week ago, so I will let you know if it works! Stay tuned!

* I believe in God. Not because my parents told me to.

Not because a church told me to. But because I’ve experienced how awesome He is.

* Last summer my niece decided to till up her garden and put it to grass because her family was always so busy with summer sports, she didn’t have time for gardening! So this year with the possibility of late openings for summer sports or even none at all, she has devised a brilliant plan for a garden. All her patio pots are filled with lettuce, radishes, onions, etc. while the larger vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, watermelon, etc. are planted here and there in her flower gardens.

* Since mowing season is once again upon us, if you see me outside mowing and I am singing at the top of my lungs, that means I am listening to my iPod playlist of Neil Diamond, The Jackson Five, Rick Springfield, Rick Astley, Hall & Oates, Lionel Richie, and The Monkees!
