This and That

* “Kiss an Angel Good Mornin’” is one of the first country songs that made it on my all-time favorite music list. Country music star Charley Pride had such a melodic voice and now he can sing to all the angels in Heaven. My Mom will be right up front for that concert.

* Legendary pilot Chuck Yeager also passed away recently. He was the first man to fly faster than the speed of sound and he did it on October 14th, 1947.

* Here’s a little twist on a Christmas favorite that is just perfect to start off the new year….”When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but TEN extra pounds on my hips, thighs and rear!”

* The CW is doing a reboot of the TV series “Walker, Texas Ranger.” It will star Jared Padalecki (from the long running TV series “Supernatural”) as Cordell Walker. I am just saying it here and now, even though Padalecki is a good actor, NO ONE is ever going to have shoes big enough to replace Chuck Norris as Walker.

* In an earlier editorial I mentioned the fake snow the studios use for some of the Hallmark Christmas movies. I did mention that it looks pretty, but it never falls on any of the people. It just swirls around them. If that would be me, the flakes would be drifting into my eyes at the very least. Well, now I have to mention the fake hot cocoa in some of the movies! Notice that the cups are never full to the top, you can never see any marshmallows, and there is never any steam coming off the top of the cups. Everyone can drink it as soon as they are handed a cup and not once have I seen it leave a chocolate mustache on anyone’s mouth! On occasion, in some but not many of the movies, I have seen whip cream piled high on top of the cup sprinkled with peppermint bits or chocolate ribbons, or someone stirring their drink with a candy cane, so I will give them props for that.

* Winter bucket list…Build a snowman, try some new recipes, drink some hot cocoa with marshmallows, make a snow angel and play in the snow.

* I was really wishing someone would have surprised me with a size 10-night trip to Disney World this Christmas, but with COVID, I understand why I didn’t get that particular gift this year, but I do expect it in my stocking next Christmas!
