* Word had been received from the New York Office of the American Field Service that Stockton’s foreign exchange student for the 1964-65 school year was to be a girl from Holland named Johanna Venekamp.

* Mike Saunders, Johnny Carmicheal and Leslie Conn were getting ready to head to Abilene for the Pre-Jamboree training at Camp Brown. From there they were to leave for Valley Forge where they would be spending the week at the Scout Jamboree.

* Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pfeifer were the parents of a son, David Leroy, born on June 19th.

* George Colburn had escaped injury in a tractor accident that tore the wheels off, ripped the radiator and did other damage to the vehicle. George had started to mow an alfalfa field when the front end of the tractor dropped down into a deep hole. George managed to keep his seat, so was not hurt.

* From The Feminine Slant By The Office Cat: There are no perfect days in summer. The lawn either needs watering, or it needs cutting.

* Looking Backward Fourteen Years Ago: Seven new wells had given Rooks County first place in new oil production. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hoar had celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary. Carmella Comeau and Mose Thyfault of Damar had been married on June 12th.

* Eno N. Dix, Donnie Sylvia Spargo, Minnie Leota Musgrove and Catherine Bigge had passed away.

* On sale at Slansky IGA were three cantaloupe for 79¢, choice round steak for 79¢ a pound, two pounds of sliced bacon for 95¢, three cans of ripe olives for $1.00, and twelve ears of corn for 49¢.

* The Rooks County 4-H delegation who had attended Rocks Springs Ranch Camp near Junction City were Gale Maddy, John Steeples, Kerry Maddy, Stanley Teasley, Vincent Berland, Steve Timmons, Jerry Gaines, Terry Teasley, Donald Lowry, Renee Westhusing, Kathy Kennedy, Pattie Williams, Curtis McCall, Mark LeSage, Mike Hollern, James Desbien, Rodney Carsten, Donald Bucklund, Jackie Thyfault, Debby Berland, Sharon Thyfault, Charlotte Dryden, Janine Sutton, Becky Anderson, Cathy Thyfault, Mary Beth Hargraves, Patty Lowry, Libby Wilson, Anna Hazen, Vickie Hollern, Janice Sutton, Cindy Turnbull, Raenette Hildreth, Edna Gail Anderson, Jan Phelps, Kay Jones, Joelle McCall, Janet Mason, Cheryl Carsten, Arria Ptacek  and Warren Harding.
