EVERY DAY many rural Kansas families go hungry due to the decline of donations in our local food banks, making it harder to provide quality food for our community members. Midland Marketing, along with Matching Grant Partners at Land O’Lakes, has seen this and has had the opportunity to provide funding that will be sent to our local communities to help give the Backpack 4 Kids program, which provides meals for students over the weekends when they might not have access to food. The funding also provides fresh food to our local food banks by putting the money into each community to get the food products they see as most valued for the community members in need. Midland Marketing and Land O’Lakes were pleased to present a check to the Kansas Food Bank for $20,000 last week at their Hays office. This donation and continued community donations will help supply our hungry community members with adequate food for their families daily. AGRICULTURE AND TECHNOLOGY go hand in hand every day, from the phone we use to the GPS in our tractors or sprayers. Fort Hays State University also sees the need for the continued education of our agriculture students as they go out into their professional careers after graduation. This is why Midland Marketing set up a technology endowment for the FHSU students to access the latest technology for the industry while in school. Midland Marketing, along with their partners at Land O’Lakes, had the opportunity to present the FHSU Agriculture Department $20,000 to add to the Technology Endowment Fund this month. We cannot wait to see what the students will have access to in the coming years.
