Body

The 2022 version of the Fly Kansas Air Tour will once again make a stop at Rooks County Regional Airport (RCP) on Friday, October 7.

Anywhere from 30-40 planes will make the morning trip to RCP from their first stop of the morning at Augusta. The Fly In participants will end the day at Hays.

The three-day event has become an annual tradition for the Kansas Division of Aviation.

The purpose of the tour is educational, and over 120 elementary students from all of the Rooks County schools, and a few homeschool students, will enjoy watching the planes arrive and depart.

The students will be given the opportunity to talk with the pilots and even get inside some of the planes. Planes are scheduled to arrive at RCP around 1:30 p.m. with departures beginning at around 3:00 p.m.

Students will also be given several short talks on the importance of aviation in Kansas, not only locally for businesses and institutions like Rooks County Health Center, but also the importance for the Kansas economy.

The general public is also invited to attend the event. Come early and carpool, as parking space is very limited.

Day 1 (Oct. 6): Wellington, 8:30 a.m.–9:30 a.m.; Pittsburg, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.; Ottawa, 2 p.m. –3:45 p.m.; El Dorado, 5 p.m.–8 p.m.
