Next Tuesday, November 8th is Election Day and all registered voters should exercise their RIGHT to vote!

Up for election are candidates at the state level, as well as the national level for U.S. Senate and U.S. Rep., District 1; at the county level for county commissioner, District 1; Stockton City Commissioner; and township clerks.

Of interest locally is the contested race for Rooks County Commissioner.

Independent incumbent Gregory Balthazor is facing Republican challenger Kayla Hilbrink for the county position. The two county commissioner candidates are featured in this week’s Sentinel with their responses to questions concerning pertinent local issues.

There are two open seats on the Stockton City Commission, with both incumbents, Bob Becker and Nathan Glendening running for another four-year term.

Polling places will be open Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. If you have questions about where to vote, please call the county clerk’s office at 785-425-6391. You may vote now, in advance of the election, by visiting the clerk’s office.

Election results will be posted on our website at stocktonsentinel. com and shared to our Facebook and Twitter pages at some point on Wednesday, after they are furnished to us by the county election officer, Laura Montgomery.

Please remember, you must bring a photo ID such as a driver’s license with you to the polls!
