The Rooks County Free Fair kicked off a fun week for everyone with two exciting nights of IMCA Racing in the grandstand on Sunday and Monday evenings. So, even with two nights of the Fair behind us, there is still plenty to see, do, and eat for the remainder of the week.

Tuesday night, August 8th, starts with the Ranch Rodeo.

This free event begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Frank Smith Arena. So come on down! Or take in the Blue Ribbon RC Racing by participating or watching from the bleachers. The races will be held at 7:00 p.m. and include classes 2WD, 4WD, Buggy, and Novice. There is a $1,000.00 total cash purse with additional prizes. And to top it off, don’t forget the Friends of Webster State Park Cornhole Tournament that will be held in the grandstand infield. Check-in is at 6:30 p.m. with the tournament starting at 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, August 9th, there is no grandstand entertainment because everyone will be on the midway to enjoy the family-operated Pride of Texas Carnival! The carnival will be open on Wednesday through Saturday evenings, starting at 6:00 p.m. Armbands are $30.00 apiece and will be sold at the carnival ticket booth. Make plans to enjoy the rides, games, and food concessions this amusement company offers.

On Thursday, August 10th, the grandstand entertainment is the ever-popular Demo Derby! The gates open at 5:00 p.m., with the crash up to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Youth (6-12), and Free for Children 5 and Under.

Then, on Friday, August 11th, and Saturday, August 12th, watch the Xtreem Flat Track Motorcycle Races on Rooks County’s historic half-mile track Friday. The grandstand gates open at 6:00 p.m., and races start at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, the races are in the afternoon, with the gates open at 2:00 p.m. for the races at 3:00 p.m. (For more information, visit Xtreem Flat Track at www.extreemflattrack.com) Tickets are $10.00 for Adults, $5.00 for Youth (6-12), and Free for Children 5 and Under.

The live music under the Solutions North Bank Pavilion is sure to keep everyone’s toes tapping with Country Nite with DJ Nate on Tuesday; Andy and Kent Chesney on Wednesday; The Box Turtles on Thursday; Taylor Fugitt Band on Friday; and Paramount on Saturday night to end the Fair on a high note! (8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. nightly) There are plenty of afternoon activities with the Lego Challenge on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. under the SNB Pavilion.

There will be Bingo and a Free Watermelon Feed on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. under the SNB Pavilion.

The Youth Pet Parade is at the Sutor-Blauer Arena is also on Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. The Ag Science Lab is Thursday at 4:00 p.m. under the SNB Pavilion, sponsored by the Rooks County Farm Bureau Association. Then, on Friday, the 4-H Livestock Sale will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Sutor-Blauer Arena.

Check out what’s on display in the 4-H and Open Class buildings and all the livestock, flowers, wheat, vegetables, crafts, sewing, cooking, photography, art, and much more! Commercial Vendors will be open daily from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in McCaslin Hall, and there will be plenty of food stands scattered around to choose from, so don’t plan on cooking the rest of the week!
