Albino Robin Spotted In Riley County

RILEY COUNTY—A Riley County couple spotted an oddity of nature in their backyard this past week. Richard and Lucia Jones could hardly believe their eyes when they spotted a small bird with no color pigmentatio, a feature often attributed to albinism. “While uncommon, KDWP gets a few reports of miscoloration of birds. Albinism, laicism, dilute or melanism are common examples,” said KDWP Migratory Game Bird Manager Tom Bidrowski. “True albinism is rare, but robins seem to be a little more common than other birds with one study reporting 8% of all albino birds being robins or 1 in 30,000 robins being albino.” (KSNT)

Ellis County Native Brings “Heartland” Sound To Nashville

ELLIS COUNTY—Nashville-based singer-songwriter and Ellis County Native Blaine Younger has recently explored his time growing up in the area with his latest song,” Heartland.” Younger grew up in Victoria and has been involved with music his entire life. He explored the region, singing around the state at every bar, county fair, and festival, including Wild West Fest and Country Stampede. But much like the person longed for in “Heartland,” Younger felt compelled to follow his dreams and pursue opportunities elsewhere. While his focus has been on songwriting, he took to performing “Heartland” himself, making it his first release in 13 years. He still performs and writes music and continues chasing the goal of one day having a song he wrote rise to the top of the hit country charts. The song comes off as a love song, but the deeper message inspires others to go chase their dream and do all they can. He hopes his story and song inspires other to take the leap. People can listen to “Heartland” online. (HAYS POST)
