Douglas John Mick passed away on October 18, 2020 at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, at the age of 65.

He was born on August 26, 1955 to Herman and Lenora (Adam) Mick in Plainville, Kansas. He was born and raised in Rooks County. He attended Palco High School and graduated with the Class of 1973. Following high school, he attended Fort Hays State University and graduated in 1977 with honors. He was extremely intelligent and worked as an accountant out of college until he changed career paths and worked in the oil field for a couple years before returning back to the family farm. He found joy in the simplest things in life including caring for the farm and being with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Dianne Durfee of Wallace, Neb., Rose (Don) Storment of Miami, Okla., Kathy (Bill) Fabac of Weston, Mo., Jim (Paula) Mick of Plainville, and Dennis (Susan) Mick of Plainville; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lenora Mick and a brother-in-law, Don Durfee.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Visitation will be on Friday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service and Rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Plainville.
