Janice Lucille (Kroeger) Hadley, age 83, of rural Ellis, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, at Trego Lemke Memorial Long Term Care in WaKeeney, Kansas, where she had been a resident the past year.

She was born on August 20, 1939, to Henry and Agnes (Heroneme) Kroeger in Hays, Kansas. Janice graduated from Trego Community High School in 1957.

On June 4, 1957, Janice was united in marriage to Keith Hadley at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Ellis, Kansas, and they were married just shy of 66 years. Together they raised three children. Janice enjoyed her farm life as a homemaker; she was an excellent cook and was especially talented at crafts, sewing, and quilting. She was a member of Ogallah Friendly Dozen and Christ Lutheran Church, Ellis. Janice touched many lives through the years with her wisdom and quiet nature.

Janice is survived by her husband, Keith, of the home; daughter Karen Howland (Jim) of rural Ellis, Kansas; sons Kelly Hadley of Huntsville, Ala.; and Evan Hadley (Rhonda) of Hays; grandchildren, Cody Howland (Becky), rural Palco; Kate Howland, rural Palco; Jennifer McDaniel (Jason), Gallatin, Tenn.; Chase Hadley, Portland, Tenn.; Kelsea Roberts (Joey), Birmingham, Ala.; Jessica Brazda (Brad), Salina; and Kyle Hadley (Katherine), Hays; great-grandchildren, Jaxin and Morgan Howland; Liam and Rory McDaniel; Brady and Brendan Hadley; Hadlee, Jace, and Jett Brazda; and two great-grandchildren due this fall; sister, Carole Hasenkamp (Stanley) of Beattie; and sister-in-law, Maralene Balthazor, Wichita; five nieces and two nephews, and many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by both parents; a nephew, John Hasenkamp; and brother-in-law, Arthur Balthazor.

Funeral service will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church, 106 E 8th Street, Ellis, Kansas 67637, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation at the church from 9 a.m. to service time. Burial will follow the service at Pleasantview Cemetery, Palco, Kansas.
