When the moon is full and the witches fly the Stockton FFA members prepare for the annual Goblin’s Glory! Members set up booths and conduct a variety of games with the format not changing since its inception. That means there is always the auction where people can bid for special prizes, and the soup supper to kick off the event!

When I was a freshman in 1971, my sweet big sister, Katy (Laska) Scott was crowned Goblin’s Glory Queen with Jim Stice voted in as King. Their Royal Court was Shelly Conn, Harry Colburn, Cindy Turnbull and Steve Cook. Yes, it was a penny a vote!

My sophomore year the king and queen were David Peterson and Nancy Votapka. Their attendants were Tony Wagner, Chris Jenkins, Larry Poore and Mendy Baughman. The event was hailed a success with the FFA bringing in over $500.00.

My junior year the queen and king were Jana Westhusing and Brad Muir. Attendants were Kathy Smith, Chet Look, Karen Iwanski and Terry Carsten. I don’t remember how much the FFA made, but I do remember the Calk Walk being one of the best ones during my high school years.

And when the pennies were counted up my senior year, my partner-in-crime Tessy Korb and our class president Gary Schilowsky were crowned the queen and king of the event. Their attendants were my classmates Debbie Dix, Mark Dix, Bonita Hoar and Gary Kee.

Now before you say, “Wow, Virgi, you sure have a great memory!” I want you all to know that our typing and shorthand teacher, as well as yearbook sponsor, C.R. Scott, always preached that when a student was in high school, they should purchase a yearbook every year. So that’s what I did. I was even on our yearbook staff when I was a senior. I could tell you so many stories about our group, but maybe not for a while! Anyway here’s a shout out to our senior yearbook staff: Tessy Korb, Verna Johnson Terry Hart, Carol Denio, Jan Lindsey, Lori Nyp, Nancy Atwill and me!
