* I watched a segment of a TV reality show, “Claim to Fame,” where the people participating are somehow related to an actor, singer, professional athlete, etc. The premise of the show is that each of the guests has to guess who the other people are related to with the last one standing winning $100,000.00. The first night it was on, one of the guests/players was disqualified and had to leave the game because he brought in a cell phone knowing that one of the rules explicitly states no one is to have one. The kicker is the young man, Maxwell, is the grandson of none other than Chuck Norris! I would have loved to be a fly on that wall for that conversation when he got back home!

* Also watched “The Challenge” where the contestants have to do some really scary and out-of-this-world competitions. I wouldn’t have made it through the first challenge because they had to repel down a building while memorizing math problems to crack a code with the answer to the problems when they got back on solid ground.

* I had to shake my head when I heard someone say they were excited that the gas prices went down to $4.34 a gallon last week.

* And I have to pass this along… “Fuel prices are so high that I went to the car dealership and test drove three cars to run my errands. Follow me for more money saving tips.”

* And this is me…..“Not to brag or anything, but I can forget what I’m doing while I’m doing it!

* The answer to this recent heat wave might be the beach or the nearest swimming pool, so we should at least go check it out!

* I have seen a lot of Jeeps being driven around Stockton and want you all to know that the word “Jeep” comes from the military term GP, which stands for General Purpose vehicles. The theory is GP was slurred into the word Jeep the same way that the HMMWV (for Highway Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle) is known as Humvee or from JEEP which means “Just Engine & Essential Parts.” But I have always loved the theory that the vehicle got its name from Eugene the Jeep, a small mysterious animal with magical abilities able to move between dimensions from the comic strip “Popeye, the Sailorman.”
