* “Leave it to Beaver” TV star Tony Dow recently passed away. I loved watching that show when I was growing up. My favorite episode was the one where the Beaver climbs up on a gigantic billboard to see if there is really coffee being poured into a cup from a giant coffee pot.

* If you can’t get to a beach this summer, eat a Mounds candy bar. It may not help, but it sure won’t hurt.

* Do you call it a cookie sheet or a cooking sheet? * I like this one… “How come Head and Shoulders shampoo has not made a body wash called Knees and Toes?

* This is me….“I’m just a girl standing in front of a snack, eating a snack while look for another snack.”

* After I say “That’s crazy” or “I can’t believe it” two or three times, please wrap up your story.

* The 2022 Rooks County Free Fair is now just a memory, but I am already more than excited for next year’s event since there will be a carnival on the midway!!!! No, I don’t ride the rides, but I do buy armbands for my grandkids and enjoy the lights, music and laughter that only comes from a carnival. First and foremost I want to thank the fair board for all their hard work during the fair and throughout the year, but now I want to pass on a few suggestions from the public I heard during this year’s event. Everyone would LOVE more benches to sit on by the rides. Please make this happen. The next suggestion is more picnic tables under the SNB Pavilion and less of the benches which could be moved to the midway. And would it be possible to extend the concrete out on the east side of the pavilion to accommodate the tables with an awning to provide additional shade? The third suggestion is to construct some type of wood/steel awning over the four stone flower stands to provide another shady area for fairgoers, and move the sand castle contest to another area. As everyone knows it’s a great place to congregate, so why not add to it every year?

And just add silk flowers and greenery to the flower pots.
