THIS AND THAT

* About forty years ago, Tom Jones wrote a song called “She’s a Lady.”

* I can’t believe the backlash actress Candace Cameron Bure is getting for her remark that she hopes to keep traditional marriage at the core of her movies after moving to the TV network “Great American Family.” One writer, Carly Silva, wrote the following: “The actress opened up about how difficult cancel culture is amid backlash of her controversial ‘traditional marriage’ comments.” What is controversial about her comments? She has a right, just like everyone else does, to her opinions. Social media was outraged by her remarks because “it seemed to shade or invalidate same-sex marriages.” Read what she said again. She is just stating her opinion. And FYI: Great American Family has shown the most significant audience growth of any other TV station in the past several months.

* What did you think of Biden’s State of the Union? I can’t even call it a speech or address.

* We combined our February celebrations on Super Bowl Sunday into one fun day! We had a birthday blowout, got some chocolates for Valentine’s Day, watched my great-niece dance her way to a few trophies, and topped it off by cheering on the Chiefs.

* That outfit, if you can even call it an outfit Kelly Clarkson wore for the NFL Honors, was atrocious. And what was with that long piece of hair? I liked the show, so I gotta give her props for that.

* Tax season is just around the corner, so ask yourself why I am paying TAXES on my wages, and then paying sales TAX to spend my money. Then paying income TAXES on the money they already TAXED and paying property TAXES after I already paid sales TAXES on my property when I bought it? And then puzzle this out: How do most politicians on a public servant salary go into office with humble means and end up millionaires?

* February 16th marked 17 years since Dad has been gone, and I still expect him to walk through the door. Mom, too.
