Tiger Ambush Powerlifters leave their mark at NPL Meet

The Tiger Ambush Powerlifters made a trip to Lincoln last Thursday where they competed along with 136 other lifters in the Northern Plains League Powerlifting Meet. Once again the Tigers left their mark as they set new League records, accomplished many PRs, and each of them brought home at least one medal.

Cason Iwanski (148lb. Division) finished the day first overall, earning himself the distinction of being the Pound for Pound NPL Champion. Ava Dix (148) and Deacon Creighton (181) were second overall, Zach Young (220) was third overall, and Haden Hahn (123) and Jadyn Palmer (148) were fourth overall.

En route to the championship, Iwanski finished first in each of his lifts: Bench (1st, 245 lbs.); Squat (1st, 335); Clean (1st, 265); Overall (1st, 845). His Clean of 265 pounds and Overall total of 845 pounds were new NPL records. Iwanski, with a ratio of 5.729, placed first in his weight class, as well as first out of all 96 lifters.

Creighton set a new PR with a Bench of 225 pounds, and ended up second in the category. He placed first in Squat at 365 pounds, and was seventh in Clean at 185 pounds. His Overall total of 775 pounds landed him in second place, and his ratio of 4.3687 placed him second in his weight class, and 14th overall.

Young, who finished third overall with a total of 835 pounds, was third in Bench with 240 pounds, fifth in Squat at 345 pounds, and first in Clean, setting a new PR at 250 pounds. His ratio of 4.1960 was good for second in this weight class, and 19th overall.

Hahn ended up fourth overall with the following lifts totaling 275 pounds: Bench (3rd, 100 lbs.); Squat (3rd, 175); and Clean (4th, 0). The 175 pounds he squatted was a new PR for him. Hahn finished with a ratio of 2.2449, placing him fourth in his weight class, and 77th out of 96 lifters.

In the girls’ competition, Dix, with total lifts of 575 pounds, finished second overall with the following: Bench (3rd, 125 lbs.); Squat (1st, 290); Clean (2nd, 160). Her Squat of 290 pounds set a new League record, while her Clean of 160 pounds was a new PR for her. With a ratio of 4.1727, she finished first in her weight class and first overall out of 40 lifters.

Palmer ended up fourth overall with the following lifts totaling 455 pounds: Bench (2nd, 130 lbs.); Squat (4th, 220); and Clean (6th, 105). Her ratio of 3.218 placed her fourth in her weight class and 12th overall.
