The Rooks County Historical Society and Museum, located at 921 S. Cedar Street, Stockton, Kansas, extends a public invitation to its Annual Meeting on Sunday, April 21st, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The event will recap the Society’s 2023 moments and offer sneak peeks of some upcoming events for 2024.

The Society continues the ongoing membership drive to join the increasing ranks of those interested in preserving Rooks County’s history and cultural heritage. Refreshments and friendly conversations will be provided.

The Historical Society will continue its annual presentation of Influential Families of Rooks County with guest speaker William Skinner of Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Skinner will discuss the Skinner family’s migration from Civil War Era Pennsylvania to Kansas with the focus on his grandfather, Judge William Kenneth Skinner’s service within the Rooks County legal system. William Skinner and the Rooks County Historical Society will christen the establishment of the Skinner Legal Archives, focused on preserving Judge Skinner’s historic documents and family heirlooms. The Skinner Legal Archives will be housed within the halls of the Rooks County Historical Society’s Museum. All are invited to attend, meet the grandson of Judge William Kenneth Skinner, and join the ranks of historical preservationists throughout Rooks County.
