What Was Going

On 14 Years Ago

Rooks County Commissioners Bob Schamel, Gary LeRock and Pat Hageman met with members of the Rooks County Fair Board to discuss the number of members on the fair board. In 1971 the county commissioners passed a resolution that in essence stated that the 25 townships in the county would be combined into 12 voting precincts. According to the resolution, the fair board had to have a minimum of 12 members according to the voting precincts, but through the years the fair board had always been made up of the 25 townships. After discussion, the commissioners agreed to reverse the 1971 resolution, for the fair board only, to state that the fair board would consist of 25 members. Officers were nominated and voted on by fair board members, and those officers and other township representatives were approved by the commissioners. Nominations for two vacancies on the fair board would be brought to the next meeting of the commissioners.
