* And So They Say: Floyd Fix: “Doesn’t it always rain on the day of the junior/ senior banquet?” Twila Strutt: “At the secretarial seminar we went to on Saturday, we didn’t really learn anything new, but were reminded of what we already knew and weren’t putting into practice.” Lloyd Hollern: “I got some smart pills in Hays on Sunday.” Clark Stocking: “Well, this is the big week—the week that Batman comes to local television screens.”

* “In The Misty Moonlight” was the theme of the junior/senior prom. Dance music had been furnished by the Osborne High School Dance Band.

* Smith’s bowling team won first place in the Bowlerette League. Members were Margarette Low, Toots Baxter, Joanna Stewart, Marilyn Copper and Pat Langley. Second place went to McClay’s with member Lue Slansky, Iva Lee McMillen, Vada Peterson, Dorene Sutton and Vi Chastain.

* At the recent Stockton American Legion Post meeting, Alton Hazen was chosen as its candidate to attend Boys State at Lawrence in the summer.

* George Eades took his son and daughter, Ronnie and Georgia and three Brown-Swiss cattle to the State Brown-Swiss Show in Glasco and placed in three divisions of the 52-head show. Ronnie received firsts in both the Junior Heifer and Senior Division of Fitting and showing and Georgia got a third for her heifer calf.

* Loyalty Day was to be celebrated on May 1st through the sponsorship of the Ladies Auxiliary to Monroe-Taylor-Barnes Post 8873. The plans were to include a widespread display of the U. S. Flag and the presentation of the Pledge of Allegiance cards to each student in Kindergarten and Stockton Grade School.

* It was good news that had been announced that the American Legion Post No. 97 was to sponsor the Legion baseball during the summer. Bill Brokaw, Ralph Elliott, Dan Stewart and Kenneth Medley had attended the rules meeting in Lincoln and had made the application to host the playoffs in Stockton.

* Several Stockton pool players won eight out of twelve matches in the tournament held in Plainville over the weekend. Taking part were J. C. Dillingham, Harold Stice, Bill Gouldman, Delaine Bedore, Jim Chastain, Kenneth Medley, Warren Miller and George Sander. Their next tournament was to be in Hays.

* From The Feminine Slant By The Office Cat: The bridge prizes of today will be the antiques of tomorrow.

* Looking Backward Fourteen Years Ago: Pearl Falk and Ernest Fulghum had been married. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Farr were parents of a daughter born on April 24th. Darrell Odle had received the State Farmer Degree.

* On sale at Glenn’s Mr. AG were four pineapples for $1.00 or $2.79 for a dozen, two quarters of Meadow Gold chocolate milk for 45¢, Kraft Miracle Whip for 39¢ a quart jar, and a bag of Sta-Krisp potato chips for 49¢.

* Mrs. Kenneth Pauley had presented a group of her piano students at a recital. Those taking part were Debbie Dix, Janis and Tammy Mauck, Butch and Sara Jo Marshall, Lana Cadoret, Sandra Arends, Jan and Denise Cunningham, Marty, J. D. and Linda Niermeier, Jeanie Stewart, Elona Mitchell, Brenda Hunter, Janese McCauley, Cella Jo and Derek Sheffer, Rhonda Williams and Johnny Eades.

* The engagement of Miss Trudy Thyfault to Mr. Virgil L. Deges had been announced.

* Showing at the Park Drive-In were the movies “The Ipcress File” starring Michael Caine, and “Ski Party” starring Frankie Avalon, Dwayne Hickman an Deborah Walley.
