BETTY AND LARRY LALA received the 1990 Kansas Bankers Association Windbreak Award. The Lalas started the windbreak by planting twin rows of Eastern Red Cedar in 1957. They added another row along the north side of their property in 1971. The windbreak was designed to provide winter protection for the livestock and added defense for the entire farmstead area.
