THE HAYS BIG BAND performed at the St. Thomas Parish Center in February 1989. Dancing to the 16-piece ensemble that played Glenn Miller music as well as tunes from the 1930s to 1950s were Wilma (waving) and Delaine (Bull) Turnbull as well as Barbara and Bob Clark. A great deal of work had gone into preparing for the evening with Clarene Goodheart, Diana Van Eaton and Marjorie Conn creating a winter wonderland theme. Rick Braasch acted as doorman, and Judy Schroeder and Cathi Bobbitt were the hatcheck girls. Kathy Unruh and Linda Colburn took tickets, and refreshments were served by Jenny Riffel, Shari Kaba, and Angie Winters. Rita Sander and Marilyn Peaslee were in charge of the advance ticket sales.
