The iconic 1973 movie, “Paper Moon,” was filmed in and around this part of Kansas over 50 years ago and will be celebrated at the historic Nova Theatre this Sunday, April 30th, with a FREE 2:00 p.m. matinee. (Donations are welcome.) The doors will open at 1:00 p.m., so come early and see the displays, sign up for the raffle, and enjoy the music of bygone days.

The Rooks County Historical Society and Museum invite everyone to explore the movie’s effects on the communities of Kansas with guest speakers from the McCracken Historical Museum.

In this black and white film, real-life father and daughter Ryan and Tatum O’Neal team up as slick con artists Moses Pray and Addie Loggins during the Depression in 1930s Kansas. When “Moze” is unexpectedly saddled with getting the nine-year-old Addie to relatives in Missouri after her mother’s death, his attempt to dupe her out of her money backfires, so he’s forced to take her on as a partner.
