Something to think about!

People have been hearing for years how important it is to shop locally and support local businesses!

Do local businesses ever stop to realize a newspaper is a business too—owned by local people as well—here to promote YOUR business?

If people continue to ONLY choose Facebook, it’s just a matter of time before your community loses its newspaper.

We know how the old saying goes in this business…“Once you lose your paper…your town isn’t far behind.”

We appreciate all those who faithfully use the newspaper regularly to inform the public. It’s our job and we take it seriously. What we also take seriously is when people don’t use the paper but only use FB.

Every time you are posting to FB to “inform” and “promote” and not using your paper, you are going against a business who has been here to share news about your family—births, weddings, engagements, passing of a loved one, birthdays, celebrations, annual events, wins and losses, human interest stories, pictures, and much, much more.

If some of you continue this practice, it won’t be long before you no longer have writers to share your stories to FB. Journalism as we know it will be a thing of the past.

Our news is there for you— in black and white. You don’t need to scroll through an entire “News Feed” in hopes of trying to catch everything. We’re always there for you to pick up and read! Our news and ads are not going off the page if you can’t read us in the next 30 minutes or the next day, week or month.

So thank you faithful advertisers who use YOUR paper to inform people. It is appreciated more than you’ll ever know. And we know who you are.
