Oh, Deer! Not again, and again...

On April 1st, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Angela Hahn, 40, of Stockton, was heading north on U.S. 183 Highway near K Terrace when she struck a deer. She and her passenger, 15-yearold Coryn Hahn, were properly restrained, and no injuries were reported. The driver’s side of Hahn’s 2016 Toyota 4-Runner received damage to the driver’s side and windshield but was drivable.

On February 23, 2021, at 7:45 a.m., Linda McLaughlin, 71, of Stockton, was westbound on U.S. 24 near 16 Rd., driving a school bus owned by USD 271, when she struck a deer on the left front corner of the vehicle. Four students, ranging in ages from 11 to 16, were on board, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained damage to the hood, front light assembly, driver’s side front fender and driver’s door.

On January 2, 2021 at 7:30 p.m., Dustin S. Graul, age 39, from Commerce City, Colo., was westbound on U.S. 24 near 7 Rd. when he struck a deer. The 2014 Ford F350 pickup truck he was driving had minor damage to the passenger side, front and headlight area. Graul was properly restrained, and no injuries were reported.

On December 8, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Victoria Peterson, 62, driving a 2006 Cadillac, was backing out of a driveway near Elm St. and Main, when she oversteered and backed into a 2004 Chevrolet Impala owned by Justin Whitney, which was legally parked. Peterson’s car suffered minor damage on the driver’s side rear quarter panel, and Whitney’s car had damage to the front end. Peterson was properly restrained, and no injuries were reported.

On July 7, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Tammy Lynn Schroeder, 44, of Hill City, was traveling west on K-18 Highway near 16 Road when she struck a deer. The 2005 Dodge Caravan she was driving sustained damage to the front and driver’s side. Neither the driver nor her passengers, Breeal Rodriguez, 27, and Kayleigh Rodriguez, 17, both of Hill City, were injured. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.
