Cynthia (DeRosear) Mooney passed away on December 1, 2023, at Carolyn's Senior Lodge Assisted Living Center in Houston, Texas, at the age of 82.

She was born November 19, 1941, in Ft. Madison, Iowa, to Roy and Althea DeRosear. She grew up in Galveston, Texas, and Burlington and Atlantic, Iowa, before moving to Stockton, Kansas, with her parents in 1952. She attended Stockton schools starting in the sixth grade and graduated from Stockton High School in 1959.

After high school, Cynthia attended Ft. Hays State College, then worked with Delta Airlines starting in 1960 in New York City as a reservations specialist. After two years, she decided on flight attendant training and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, to pursue that job with Delta. She loved New Orleans, the people, the food, and the flying adventure.

Soon after relocating there, she met and later married Blake Mooney, a real estate developer. Deciding that Houston, Texas, was a better market, they relocated there after spending two years in New Orleans. At that point, Cynthia started flying Delta domestic and international routes, including Hawaii, Alaska, Germany, France, and South America. She thoroughly enjoyed vacationing in Europe and took many trips there with her flying companions.

After 43 years with Delta, Cynthia retired and remained in Houston. She enjoyed working in her yard, caring for her plants, playing with her cats, and relaxing at her pool. She would travel to Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming to visit her parents, siblings, and friends and to keep her traveling adventures alive.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Althea DeRosear.

She is survived by her brothers and spouses, Tom and Rosemary DeRosear, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Dave and Linda DeRosear, Hastings, Nebraska; and Doug and Dale DeRosear of Burlington, Iowa, along with several nieces, nephews, and special local friends.

Cremation was at the Graceful Memorial & Bayou Family Funeral Home in Houston, with her ashes to be scattered along the Gulf Coast in Galveston, Texas.
