Linda Diane (Brown) Ruder, age 67, of Hays, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born August 7, 1952 in Russell, Kansas to Kenneth and Viola (Baum) Brown. She married Stephen P. Ruder on December 27, 1969 at the Plainville Catholic Church, recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Linda worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Christine Kelly, as well as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business. She was a member of the “SOS” Sisters of Survivorship and Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

She is survived by her husband; a son Todd Ruder, Manhattan; a daughter Melissa Schumacher, Topeka; brothers Kenneth Brown, Zurich, Blaine Brown, Plainville, Shayne Brown, Plainville; one sister Barbara West, Plainville; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Brynlee, Lincoln and Hadley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gregory Brown.

Memorial visitation will be Wednesday, May 20, 2020, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m at Brock’s-Keithley North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays, with a combined parish vigil and rosary at 7 p.m. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic if you aren’t feeling well, please use the online guest book to convey your condolences. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2020, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Inurnment will follow the services in the St Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hays.

Memorial Contributions are suggested to Dreiling Schmidt Cancer Institute of Hays Medical Center in care of Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, Kansas.
