Richard (Dick) D. Turnbull, age 78, of Salina, passed away January 14, 2021, at Salina Regional Hospital.

He was born April 1, 1942, Stockton, Kansas, the son of Irvin and Montie (Atteberry) Turnbull. Dick was a graduate from Stockton High School in 1960. He lived on the family farm in Stockton and moved to Salina where he worked and retired from Beechcraft/Raytheon. After retirement, he worked for Parks and Recreation doing what he loved; being outside and doing yard work.

Dick always had the nicest yard on the block. He was loved and adored by his children but his greatest love was his grandchildren. He loved going to their sporting and school events.

Dick loved people; he never knew a stranger. No matter where he traveled he always ran into someone he knew. He was the life of every party and entertained everyone at the family reunions. He was loved by so many friends.

On March 27, 1977, Dick married Judie in Salina.

He is survived by his wife, Judie, of the home; two daughters: Kisha Mullins (Jeff), of Salina, and Shelly Johnson (Jeff), of Phillipsburg; two sons: Shawn Sweat (Tracy), of McPherson, and Kyle Deckert, of Tescott;  13 grandchildren: Kiera, Logan, Michael, Caleb, Maggie, Melissa, Jake, Ashley, Andrea, Zach, Devin, Jerzee, Vann and many great-grandchildren; a sister, Karroll Kirk, Hutchinson; two brothers: Jack (Nola) of Plainville and James (Judy) of Hutchinson; a sister-in-law, Judy Turnbull of Woodston; brother-in-law, Donald Normandin of Damar; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Shawn Deckert; siblings: Margurette Hulse, Patricia Toelkes, Norma Jean Turnbull, Jane Drotts, Billy Turnbull, Ronnie Turnbull and Susie Normandin.
 

A Memorial Service will be held April 3, 2021, at 11 a.m. with burial following at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
