Sherri L. Ryan, Hoisington, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020, at the Hays Medical Center, at the age of 70.

She was born on December 17, 1949 to Kenneth and Betty (Bisterfelt) Cowser in La Crosse, KS. Sherri was blessed with three children: Amy (Finnesy) Brown, Tammy (Finnesy) Werner, and William Ryan.
Sherri grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School with the Class of 1967. She lived the majority of her life in Larned where she raised her children, later migrating to Austin, Texas, then making her home in Hoisington for the remainder of her years.

Sherri loved creating art with whatever she could and always took time to admire the Lord’s creations—from big animals like horses, to small flowers like a Texas Bluebell. She enjoyed spending time in nature, with animals, and adventuring.

A known free spirit and kind soul, Sherri lived a life that was authentically herself and enjoyed her close circle of friends. Never hesitating to help someone in need, she will be remembered for the selfless love she showed others and her devotion to her family, especially William; she devoted her later adult years to his care.

To each one of us who had the privilege of knowing and loving her, Sherri leaves a legacy of true kindness, deep caring, and devoted love. Her great love and faith in God was not only a constant source of strength for herself, but also for all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Betty (Cowser) Showalter; children: William Ryan of the home, Amy (Finnesy) Brown and husband Blaine of Plainville, and Tammy (Finnesy) Werner and husband Braden of Plainville; five grandchildren: Brandon Brown, DJ (Madison) Brown, Cole (Sara) Werner, Brooke Werner and Bailey Werner; and three great-grandchildren: Ivy Werner, Eli Werner, and Ryken Brown.

Sherri is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Cowser; step-father, David Showalter; and two grandchildren, Bo Brown and Maverick Werner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Plainville with a Graveside Service to follow at 2 p.m. at the La Crosse City Cemetery in La Crosse. Visitation will be open from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday with a Vigil Service at 5:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Sherri Ryan Memorial Fund to go toward William’s care, or the Hays Med Hospice, and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd St, Plainville, KS 67663.
