Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Strutt were the parents of a daughter, Kris Blake, born on February 10th.

* The No. 1 McQueen, drilled in by the Leo Dreiling & Sons Drilling Co., in the NW NW NW 11-618W, was put on the pump. The well, located five miles north, two miles west, and one and a half miles north of Stockton, hit pay dirt in Kansas City and swabbed eight or nine barrels of oil an hour, with 50 percent oil and 50 percent water. It was located in the area where a well hit in 1942.

* The Stockton FFA Poultry Judging team placed first at the Northwest Kansas District FFA Poultry Judging Contest with 1,338 points out of a possible 1,404. All three members of the Stockton team were among the high ten individuals, with Rodney Carsten in first place with 456 points, Eldon Kriley in second place with 445 points, and Ted Odle in fourth place with 437 points.

* From The Feminine Slant By The Office Cat: George Washington was a great man, but not as great as Lincoln because Washington’s picture is only on the dollar bill.

* Looking Backward Fourteen Years Ago: Mrs. Mattie Rogers had suffered a broken hip. Stockton’s new fire engine had made its first run nearly six months after its arrival. The fire was in a truck. The Boyd & Conn Store was advertising beef roast at 33¢ a pound.

* The committee to serve the Holy Name Breakfast included Mrs. Ralph Schmitz, Mrs. William Considine, Mrs. Neil Kriley, and Mary Ann Schmitz. The Valentine Box Supper committee consisted of Mrs. Lloyd Lala, Mrs. Elmer Slansky, and Mrs. Ralph Schmitz, with the Friendship and Charitiescommitteemade up of Mrs. Irene Koppes and Mrs. Leah Desmarteau with Mrs. Dorothy Hrabe and Opal Bonneau as hostesses.

* On sale at Slansky IGA were lean pork chops for 59¢ a pound, twenty red Delicious apples for $1.00, six cans of frozen TV orange juice for $1.00, five cans of tomato soup for $1.00, and a two-anda- half-pound jar of Good Value peanut butter for 89¢.

* Mrs. Harold Mauck and Mrs. Elton Smith were hostesses at a slumber party at the Iowa Township Hall to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their daughters, Tammy Mauck and Jeannie Smith. A nice supper was served, and the girls played games until it was time for them to try to sleep. The guests were Tessie Korb, Karen Sanders, Tawnya and Connie Brummer, Lori Nyp, Diane Anderson, and Andrea Norton.

* Showing at the Nova Theatre was the Walt Disney movie, “The Absent Minded Professor” starring Fred MacMurray.
