Semi/car accident at U.S. 183/U.S. 24 intersection

On April 8, at 8:00 a.m., Sheldon Leon Loewen, 22, of Cimarron, was northbound, driving a 1988 Peterbilt semi and stopped at the stoplight at the U.S. 183/U.S. 24 intersection, signaling for a right turn. Sarina Kayleen Miller, 35, of Hays, driving a 2017 Dodge R25 pickup, did not see the turn signal and went to the right side of the semi. When the light turned green, Loewen began his right turn and sideswiped the left front fender of the pickup. There were no injuries to either driver.

Deer accidents dominate this week’s sheriff’s report

On Saturday, April 4, at 1:53 a.m., Trevor Vandegrift, 20, of Ness City, was heading east on X Rd. between 2 Rd. and 3 Rd. when he swerved to miss a cow or deer and lost control of the 2000 Mitsubishi Montero he was driv ing, causing the vehicle to roll. A passenger, 39-yearold Jarod Easterberg, of Plainville, was transported by ambulance to Rooks County Health Center. The vehicle was totaled. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.
