Michael Goll elected to Kansas Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame

The Kansas Tennis Coaches Association has elected former Salina Central Tennis Coach Mike Goll to the Hall of Fame in the Class of 2023.

Coach Mike Goll was in education and coaching for 41 years, retiring in 2021. During his tenure he was named “National Coach of the Year” in 2014, won 4 State Team Titles, and coached 6 Doubles State Champions. Coach Goll was a Head Coach at Salina Central High School for 25 seasons and an Assistant Coach for another 7.

Coach Goll’s other achievements include being named Midwest Sectional Coach of the Year (Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota), USTA Kansas Coach of the Year, twice being named Kansas Overall Coach of the Year, and twice being named Kansas 5A Coach of the Year. Besides the 4 State Team Titles, Coach Goll also led the Salina Central teams to 15 Regional Titles, 16 League Titles, and 10 Top 3 finishes at State. He finished his coaching career having coached 84 State Medalists and 23 members of his teams were able to achieve the 100 Varsity Win Club.

Coach Goll is a native of Phillipsburg, Kansas and taught at Kensington High School as well as Solomon High School. He has a Master’s degree from Kansas State University, a Bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University, and an Associate degree from Cloud County Community College.

His family includes wife Brenda and sons Chandler Brass of Stockton, Kansas, Connor Brass of North Kansas City, Missouri, and Spencer Brass of Los Angeles, California. He is also the son of the late Bum and Burnell Goll of Phillipsburg, Kansas.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2023 also includes Coach Kevin Hedberg of Topeka Washburn Rural High School, Coach Gary Bittner of Claflin-Central Plains High School, and Coach John Bellah of Smoky Valley High School.

Induction ceremonies for the Class of 2023 have not yet been announced.
