The Hobart Homemakers FCE group met June 22, 2020, at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Stockton. Ruth Ann Bigge opened the meeting and Gail Gallaway read the minutes from the May meeting and the treasurer’s report and they were approved as read. We had four members attend. The only New Business was deciding the theme for our fair booth and ideas of how to decorate. The Rooks Co. Fair is coming soon, Aug. 2-8.

Unusual Sighting by Mark Trumbo

MARK TRUMBO saw an unusual sighting at Webster Lake recently when, what looked to be a very large channel cat, turned out to be a large channel cat with another large channel cat’s head in its mouth. Mark said the heads on the fish were about the size of a basketball. He estimated the fish to weigh 20-25 lbs. apiece. As he went to take another picture, the fish flopped and ended up separating and swimming away.

The menus for the week beginning Monday, July 6, are as follows: Monday— Smothered steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, bread, pineapple. Tuesday—Chicken filet sandwich, three-bean salad, cantaloupe, bun, pudding. Wednesday—Turkey ala king, spinach salad, rosy pears, biscuit, brownie. Thursday—Pork cutlet, scalloped potatoes, California blend vegetables, bread, rosy applesauce. Friday—Baked fish, creamed potatoes, peas, bread, strawberries and bananas.

Rooks County Health Center Board of Directors May 26th meeting minutes

(The following article is taken from the minutes of the RCH Board of Directors meeting held on May 26th.) President Jeff Van Dyke called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. The other Board members present were Charles Comeau and Jon Voss. Also present were Stephanie Bjornstad, Cindi Knipp, Pam Harmon, Frank Rajewski, Anthony Thomas, William Stahl and June Karlin, recording secretary. Board members absent were Charles Allphin and Michael Oller, MD. Charles Comeau was appointed acting secretary for the meeting.

COHEN MUIR had fun digging in the sand down at the Stockton City Park playground on Monday evening while family and friends gathered to watch the coach/pitch softball games being held that night. Cohen is the son of Heath and Lacey Muir.

Sigma Phi ESA celebrates 40 years

SIGMA PHI ESA celebrated its 40th year as an organization in Stockton on Wednesday, June 17th, at the VFW Dining Hall. Twenty-four members enjoyed a potluck meal and gift exchange between Secret Sisters. The group continues to serve and support the community by sponsoring activities to carry out their mission, “Be of service to others.” The four charter members who started Sigma Phi received their 40-year service pin awards. They included, pictured from left: Judy Sander, Pam Wilson, Award Chairman Denise Murchie, Linda LaRue and Kathy Stice. Other service awards were presented to: Reesa Brown, 35 years; Jayne Prockish, 25 years; and Kyleigh Stice, 5 years.
