Equipment purchases approved at Tuesday’s City Commission meeting

A trailer and mini excavator were approved for purchase at the Stockton City Commission meeting held on Tuesday, January 17th. City employees Cory Carlson and Ray Niblock were on hand to present the bids to the commissioners, starting with the trailer bid. Carlson presented the bids for a larger trailer for the departments. After the commissioners reviewed the two bids, they approved the bid from Trailer Solutions of Garden City. The bid will also include four updated tires as well as a spare tire.

City working on a few projects around town

One of the two projects the City of Stockton has been working on during the past several years is the replacement of the tornado/storm sirens around town. The City has four sirens located in specific areas of the community. The plan was to replace one yearly with the funds budgeted for that purpose. This year, the City will change out the last siren by the St. Thomas Parish Center.

Man arrested for murder in McPherson County

Body

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Canton Police Department are conducting a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead outside her home in Canton, Kansas.

The Canton Police Department requested KBI assistance just before 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23. KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team (CSRT) responded to the scene.

New county commissioner Kayla Hilbrink sits in on her first meeting

Starting off the Rooks County Commission morning session, held on Tuesday, January 10th, was a meeting with Senior Services Board member Chuck Comeau and Plainville City Mayor Quinton Meyers. Comeau gave a quick overview of how far Redbud has come since last November 2021 when the census was down and they were depending on nursing agencies to staff the facility.
