Friday, May 5th, was the night to be in Plainville for the Red Line Cruisers 7th Annual Cruise Night. Many onlookers started early and stayed late, listening to classic rock and roll music provided by Bob and Sue Schonthaler while enjoying all the food vendors. Around 200 vehicles were cruising the streets of Plainville.

The Red Line Cruisers are so proud of the community of Plainville and surrounding towns for supporting this event. Everyone seemed to have a great time. Some folks said they look forward to it every year. They get to see so many friends from the past, and it brings back so many memories of everyone laughing, hanging out with their friends, and forgetting their busy life for a weekend. The sound of a few vehicles playing around reminded most people of the ole’ days of dragging Main.

The Old Westhusin Dealership building at the corner of Mill Street and Highway 183 was dressed up with gasoline pumps and other vintage filling station items—complete with the old-time service bell strip at the pumps provided by Don Burlison.

The Poker Run Friday night was a huge success with 67 hands. The winning hands were: 1st place, Randy Prater; 2nd place, Cody Crawford; and 3rd place, Skylar Rudman.

Saturday, May 6th, started bright and early with coffee and breakfast served by the Methodist Church Ladies and Lil’ Dis & Lil’ Dat Food Stand with Classic Music, and everyone setting everything up for the Show.

This year there were a total of 81 vehicles for the Show. West of the music trailer, a military truck with flags greeted everyone that drove by. The truck belongs to Fred Adams of Plainville.

After the vehicles were registered, the Show started with the National Anthem, and then the fun kicked off with door prizes, the smell of food from the vendors, and trivia questions.

This year the Car Show entries were from Abilene, Wilson, Ellis, Lawrence, Hays, Phillipsburg, St. Peter, Mankato, Olmitz, Agra, Salina, Cawker City, Osborne, Wakeeney, Smith Center, Norton, Damar, Natoma, Hill City, Ness City, and Plainville.

It was a great day for an awesome show. The Red Line Cruisers appreciate the public’s interest. Many people spent time walking around the vehicles and talking to the owners.

The Red Line Cruisers welcomed home our hometown heroes from #KHF94CHARTER during the week and honored them at Saturday’s Car Show with a $3,500.00 donation to Kansas Honor Flight! Medic Jenny Niblock was on the trip and at the Car Show to accept the check.

The Red Line Cruisers appreciate the community for supporting their annual event. It is the success it is with every one of you.
