Commissioner/Mayor Kim Thomas attends last meeting after years of service

At the regular meeting of the Stockton City Commission held on Tuesday, January 7th, the commissioners approved the purchase of a court management software system for the City’s municipal court bookwork. The cost estimate for the software and installation is approximately $5,000.00. It was noted that the City did budget $10,000.00 for the software. It will be installed within the next two months with training included in the price.

The commissioners also approved annual Resolutions 1, 2 and 3 for the new year which pertain to accounting, PRIDE and treasurer for the City, respectively. Also, the Stockton Sentinel was designated as the official paper and Solutions North Bank was designated as the official bank for the City for 2020.

Then the commissioners approved Ian Snyder and and Andy Saaranen as the City’s delegates at the yearly state water conference with Snyder as the voting delegate and Saaranen to serve as the alternate.

The commissioners voted to release the bonds as requested by Pride Energy as they have completed the cleanup of the oil wells in town during the yearlong project. City attorney Joe Gasper will now send a letter to the company stating that the bonds have been released.

During Public Comments, Mayor Kim Thomas thanked everyone on the Commission and prior commissioners that she had worked with during her years of service. She was then recognized for her service to the City.

After two, fifteen-minute executive sessions were held with the commissioners and city manager Courtney Flower in attendance, Flower gave her City Manager’s Report. She noted that the City has offered the trash truck position to an individual. The City is advertising for an electric plant operator at this time. Newly-elected commissioners Nathan Glendening and Bob Becker will be sworn in on Monday, January 13th.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Consent Agenda, which included the Solomon Valley Manor gross payroll in the amount of $80,780.82, the Solomon Valley Manor warrants in the amount of $74,484.05, the City of Stockton warrants in the amount of $80,492.08, the City of Stockton gross payroll in the amount of $104,463.46, the December 17th, 2019 regular meeting minutes and the December 23rd, 2019 special meeting minutes, was approved as presented by the commissioners.

Present for the meeting were commissioners Reesa Brown, Nathan Glendening, Kim Thomas, Sandi Rogers and Don McLaughlin as well as city manager Courtney Flower and accounts payable clerk Kayla Hilbrink.
