UPDATE: Human skeletal remains in Lansing identified

LEAVENWORTH COUNTY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Lansing Police Department have identified the human skeletal remains found Feb. 18 in a wooded area in Lansing.

The deceased man has been identified as Derrick U. Collins. He was reported missing from Leavenworth in June of 2022 when he was 59 years old.

No trauma was noted during the autopsy. At this time, there is no evidence of foul play in Collins’ death. Final autopsy results are pending.
