Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Staab

Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Staab, age 88 of LaCrosse, passed away on January 1, 2020 at the Locust Grove Village Nursing Home in LaCrosse. Betty was born on November 8, 1931 to Alex and Evelyn (Bieker) Koerner in Hays. She grew up near Hays where she attended school and later met and married Gerald Staab on April 29, 1952 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Betty and Gerald moved to Plainville in 1955.

Betty assisted her husband in operating the Montgomery Ward Catalog Store. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Mary Van Schuyver, Jerry Staab, Cindy Ross and Debra Meyers, all of Plainville; eleven grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Evelyn Koerner; husband, Gerald Staab; infant daughter, Betty Staab; brother, Ervin Koerner; and grandchildren, Brent and Scott Van Schuyver.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
