Marcia Lynn “Marcy” Wagner, 71, Palco, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023, at HaysMed in Hays.

She was born October 23, 1951, in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of Paul and Gloria (Ikast) Wagner.

Marcy graduated from Palco High School, Fort Hays State University, and Southwestern College of Professional Studies, where she earned a Master of Education Degree.

Miss Wagner taught elementary school for 42 years, first in Smith Center and then in Palco. Marcy believed, “teachers plant seeds of knowledge that grow forever.” Inspired by their aunt, two of Marcy’s nieces and a nephew are now teachers and carry on her legacy. After retiring from teaching, Marcy served as the city clerk for the City of Palco.

Marcy was a Red Line Church of God member, where her father, Paul, once served as pastor.  Marcy was a prolific quilter and loved spending time with her sewing friends.  Additionally, she enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark movies, sharing Danish traditions, and playing games; her favorite was Rummikub.

Marcy is survived by her sister, Alesia Prichard of Las Vegas, Nev.. and her brother, Kevin (Tama) Wagner of St. Joseph, Mo. The loves of her life were her nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Keri) Prichard of Cheyenne, Wyo., Ariane (Jim) McCracken of Las Vegas, Nev., Adam (Emily) Prichard of Watertown, Mass., Katherine (Corey) Sanders, of Kansas City, Mo., and Mitchell (Heather) Wagner of St. Joseph, Mo. She was also Great-Aunt Marcy to a dozen of the brightest and most adorable great-nieces and nephews. The family would also like to recognize Jane, Marlys, Johni, and all her dear friends for their ongoing care and support.

A Celebration of Life for Marcy will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Red Line Church of God, 3308 H Road, Palco, Kansas 67657.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in memory of Marcia Lynn Wagner to Fort Hays State University Foundation, One Tiger Place, Hays, KS 67601, or to Red Line Church of God, Palco.

Arrangements are the care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, and condolences and memories of Marcy may be shared with her family at www.haysmemorial.com
