Marvin Jackson, 87, of Stockton, passed away Tuesday, January 16th, 2024, at Parkview Care Center in Osborne.

He was born to Alfred (Jack) and Rosena (Hunter) Jackson on September 19, 1936, in Stockton. He attended school at Webster until it closed and then in Stockton, where he graduated from Stockton High School.

On August 30, 1958, Marvin was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Helm in Stockton. They spent all 50 years of their marriage on a farm west of Stockton, raising cattle, hogs, and wheat.

Farming was Marvin's passion in life. He worked hard but also knew how to relax and have fun. Marvin spent many weekends at Webster Lake with his family, boating, skiing, and fishing. Throughout the years, he drove around the lake daily, seeing who was fishing, camping, and watching the geese in the winter. His absolute favorite meal was walleye fish, so he was always interested in whether they were biting. One of his favorite pastimes was hunting pheasant and quail with his brothers and friends.

Over the years, Marvin became an avid golfer and made time weekly to golf with his wife, other family members, and friends. He enjoyed golfing trips and trying out new golf courses. He also loved traveling to visit his children and grandchildren and spent many days watching them show animals and play sports.

Marvin served on the Rooks County Fair Board for many years and was a devoted supporter of 4-H and the fair. He also served on the Rooks County Extension Board and the Farmers Cooperative Association Board. Marvin was a member of the Congregational Church and was active in the Stockton community all his life. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Becky, and husband, Danny of Sedan; son, Rick, and wife Karin of Austin, Texas; sister Ruth Ann Roy and husband Kenneth of Erie, Colo.; brothers, Jerry Jackson & wife Shirley of Great Bend, KS, Jim Jackson and wife Patty of Stockton, and Ronnie Jackson and wife Janis of Clay Center; eight grandchildren, Heather and Brian Smylie, Sonny and Lana Williams, Taylor and Rachael Green, Jordyn Green, Jacob & Shauna Jackson, Brandi & Lucas Moll, Becca & Zac Waller, Chaeli & Will Yates; 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred (Jack) Jackson, his mother, Rosena Jackson, and his wife, Beverly Jean Jackson.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Stockton Church of Restoration. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Stockton.

Memorials are suggested to Rooks County 4-H or Rooks County Free Fair and may be sent to Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. 1st, Stockton, KS 67669.
