Patricia “Pat” Ann (Meyers) Norris passed away on May 4, 2023, at the Derby Health & Rehab in Derby, Kansas.

She was born on February 27, 1944, to Edmund and Virginia (Kriley) Meyers.

She grew up on the farm with her parents and brother Don. No electricity, no running water, no inside bathroom—but thought they were the richest people in the world! They had fun and didn’t know any better.

Pat attended Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School and graduated from Plainville High School in 1962 before attending business school in Omaha, Neb., where she met her husband, Thomas “Tom” Norris, on a blind date. After dating over a year, they were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville on May 1, 1965.

Tom was in military service, so they had a little traveling ahead of them, along with having four children: Christine, Timothy, David, and Kathy.

After 20+ years in the USAF, they retired back in Plainville and later became caregivers to her parents for almost 13 years.

Pat always put her faith first. She was a religious ed teacher for fourth graders in England and served on the religious ed board there. She kept busy over the years babysitting, working at the credit union, funeral home, and farm, volunteering for the church deposits and the food pantry, and helping whenever someone needed help.

She belonged to the Sacred Heart Guild, American Legion Auxiliary, and American Legion Riders.

Pat enjoyed playing cards and games, crosswords, and sewing for her family as youngsters when times were tough. But mainly she loved spending time with her family. She hosted many “cousins’ weeks” in Plainville over the years; all her cousins were like best friends.

She is survived by her children Christine (Rob) Dinwiddie of Derby, Timothy Norris of Kemah, Texas, David Norris of Kansas City, Mo., and Kathy Calvin of Topeka; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Edmund and Virginia Meyers; brother Don Meyers; in-laws Edward and Marguerite Norris; and her husband, Tom, of over 52 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a vigil and rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be present to greet friends and relatives from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and may be sent to Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd Street, Plainville, KS 67663.
