* Actress Angela Lansbury passed away a few weeks ago. I really love watching her in the TV series “Murder She Wrote.” Also, she was a wonderful Mrs. Potts in the movie “Beauty and the Beast.” (I have a china Mrs. Potts bank that I bought at Smith’s many years ago. Roma said she bought it because she thought it was cute.) And I loved her as Miss Price, in the Disney movie “Bedknobs and Broomsticks.” She was an actress with a repartee of Broadway successes and movies through several decades that only a few can aspire to. Here are just some of her film successes: “The Long Hot Summer” (I am not going to lie, I watched it for Paul Newman), “The Court Jester” with Danny Kaye, “The Greatest Story Ever Told,” “Samson and Delilah,” “Fantasia,” “National Velvet,” “The Manchurian Candidate,” “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” “The Grinch,” and “Blue Hawaii.”

* An optimist is someone who figures out that by taking a step backward after taking a step forward is not a disaster— it’s more like a cha cha. * The mayor of New York made some derogatory remarks about Kansas a few weeks ago, actually laughing while he stated we don’t have a brand like New York. Well, I am here to tell him he should not be pourd of the brand that city and state have. Give me wide-open spaces, friendly neighbors, farmland, fresh air, blue skies and harvest moon nights any day!

* When I wrote about procuring movies for the Nova Theatre, I forgot to mention that we have to pay an upfront guarantee for any movie we show. If we don’t make that much in ticket sales during the weekend, the studios still get all of the guarantee money. And if we take in more money than the guarantee price, we pay the percentage they have set, which is usually anywhere from 35% to 70% on the entire amount, whichever is higher. Our guarantee prices are anywhere from $250.00 to $400.00 a week.

* Just when I think Governor Ron DeSantis can’t get any cooler, he does something even more amazing. That guy is pure fire!

* My question about health insurance is this… “How is it that your teeth and eyeballs are add ons?”

* I have written about pumpkin spice, Reese’s peanut butter pumpkins, hot cocoa, and apple cider, so now it is time to throw soup into the mix! My favorites are potato, chicken noodle and dumplings, tomato and chili.
