Body

* It was as smooth as silk, just like the lead singer’s voice. You all know I had been on a Prince music kick for a while, but with just one song, “Glory of Love,” playing on the radio when I got into my car a few days ago, I am now in full Peter Cetera and Chicago mode. Of course, I have to tell you, AD/DC is quietly lurking, like distant thunder, in the background!

* Hear me out—Let’s move some of the Christmas parties around and get together to January, February and March. We could do a white elephant party in January with the presents you got at Christmas; a favorite things party or charcuterie party in February; and a cookie exchange in March. That will get us to Easter!

* Let’s face it; the first piece of bread or the heel in a loaf of bread usually gets skipped over or not eaten at all. But I am here to tell you Dad came up with the most ingenious way for us kids to want to eat that piece of bread! He told us if we ate the crust it would make our hair curly. He would then show us his hair, which was naturally curly. I ate that piece of bread every chance I got when I was little because I wanted curly hair. Now I eat it because I happen to like that crusty piece, and because it reminds me of Dad. And no, my hair is not curly.

* To all the ladies who have the blue Christmas shirt with a penguin on it that says “My grandkids light up my holidays,” you are my people!

* Did any of you guys go to the self-checkout employee Christmas party at Walmart?

* Here is something I read that people should take to heart…. “Dance like no one is watching, but text like it will be read in court one day.”

* This is for newspaper people or anyone who has written an article, essay, a caption for a picture, etc. “Unfortunately, my best proofreading is done after I hit send.”

* Hey, have you guys seen the siegfriedundjoy Instagrams where the two magicians make people and things disappear? If you haven’t, check out their reels, they will make you smile.

* Remember when our skin care routine was a bar of Ivory soap and Noxema?

* My goal in 2024 is to accomplish the goals I sent in 2023, which I should have done in 2022 because I made a promise in 2021, which I planned in 2020.
