Dear Editor:

The county administration and commissioners should be embarrassed by the front page of the December 5th Sentinel. In bold lettering it says county tax revenues up $405,000 from 2018, but the flip side of that is the fact that the countys’ patrons’ tax bills are going up $405,000 on Real Estate and Utilities.

In these tough economic times, this is not a good thing to have happen to us again after the previous five years of tax increases on Real Estate. The commissioners need to realize they need to bite the bullet and start spending less money. We are getting terrible road maintenance and fewer tax paying citizens. If they would check around other counties, they don’t need as many employees in the county offices and departments. When you have fewer tax paying county citizens, it should take fewer employees to serve them.

The county administration needs to try to keep the county businesses alive, not tax them to death.

• “The great challenge left to us is to cut through all the glitz and glam of the season that has grown increasingly secular and commercial, and be reminded of the beauty of the One who is Christmas.” – Bill Crowder

• “If we could condense all the truths of Christmas into only three words, these would be the words: ‘God with us.’ We tend to focus our attention at Christmas on the infancy of Christ. The greater truth of the holiday is His deity. More astonishing than a baby in the manger is the truth that this promised baby is the omnipotent Creator of the heavens and the earth!” – John MacArthur.

We hope you have a great Christmas and wish you a Happy New Year! Start the new year by attending our 10:15 a.m. service this Sunday.
