Valley View was celebrating its 30th anniversary with an Open House on September 27th. The public was invited to stop by, tour the facility, and meet the tenants, board members and director Nancy Becker.

The Stockton Recreation Fitness Center was celebrating its first anniversary on October 1st.

Obituaries were published for Jeffrey A. Brown (1968) and Duane Jones (1928).

What Stocktonites Were Doing 98 Years Ago in 1911—Ray Vanderlip purchased a Yale motorcycle of William Morrissey last week. Miss Bessie Wyatt arrived from Montana on Thursday after a two-month absence, during which she had the opportunity of going through Yellowstone Park. She enjoyed herself greatly. There is only one case of smallpox in Stockton, the afflicted being the baby of Ralph Schick. Making the fourth in that family since the disease started.

56 Years Ago, Spotlighting The Year 1953—Work had begun on the new front of the Odd Fellows building located about midway of the “brick row” on the north side of Main Street. The main floor housed the Snyder- Robinson Drug Store. Bob Balderston, playing fullback on the powerful K-State football team, had made the first touchdown in the game in which Drake University suffered a defeat of 50-0. Two minutes into the game, Switzer of Bogue ran 82 yards for another touchdown for KSU.

Looking Back 14 Years Ago (1995)—The 18 thannual Antique Machinery, Threshing Bee & Craft Show, presented by the Solomon Valley Antique Engine & Machinery Association was set for the first of October. Four Stockton High School freshmen boys escaped serious injury in a rollover accident one mile north of Stockton. Ryan Cook, the driver, was thrown from the truck as it rolled over. Also in the truck were Kit McShea, Josh Knoll, and Brandon Logston.

The Stockton High and Junior High School Band had received a I Rating for its performance on the fairgrounds, and another I Rating from its Main Street performance at the Kansas State Fair.

SHS Homecoming Royalty candidates were Gabe Duncan, Amber Kriley, Carlee Lindsey, Alex Henry, Stephen Moll, Brenna Schlaegel, Haley Strutt, and Trevor Winters.
